Gulley Hike

On Monday, the kids had no school because of a teacher work day. We took advantage of the beautiful weather to go hike through the Gulley next to our house.

If you look closely, you can see the rock Topher was throwing/ juggling in the air above his head. No wonder he has such an odd look.

Max thoroughly enjoyed the time outside.  It felt like miles and miles away from civilization- totally out of the neighborhood.  The stream was trickling, we had to cross it several times and the trees were turning colors- just a beautiful, peaceful day.

And then there were some strange items that we found.
Like this grafittied park bench complete with beer cans!

 And a random hitching post.
(this is a very popular place to ride horses- although we didn't see any!)

Rob, of course, had football, so he isn't in any of the pictures.
 And Dad had to work:(

After walking the creek for about a mile and a half, we climbed up to the bench that runs right behind all of the houses and walked back that way.  And thanks to the boys, we didn't wait for the trail that goes up, but rather scaled a steep incline.  Even Max had a hard time getting up the steepest part!

At the end of our hike.

We made it out. Alive.
