Brett has to attend one concert per quarter. So, this Sunday, we
thought it would be fun to go downtown and see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
I can’t believe how many people were there- about 4,000! I had
no idea this was so popular. We sat next to a tour group from the East
Coast. One lady asked me if this was a
regular worship service. I had to explain, that no, there are chapels for
regular congregation.
We enjoyed the concert. It was great to hear the Orchestra of
Temple Square also! What a great combo!
Then in the evening, we ended up going to a Chinese Event. We had no idea what it was… Brett and Topher’s
teacher had called and explained she had extra tickets and the kids could get
extra credit for going to a Chinese cultural Activity.
So we headed downtown yet again.
It was a very different experience. It was like going to Taiwan.
Everyone was Chinese. Everyone was speaking Chinese. During the show, they did narrate a little in
English, but it was all in Chinese.
The show itself was kind of fun. Like “Vocal Point” went Chinese. A 6 man A Capella choir sang “Chinese western”
music. It was kind of fun. But, I was glad to leave and rejoin the USA.
